APPLICATION RECOMMENDATIONS

Subgrade shall be shaped to the line and grade required allowing for positive drainage on all surfaces to receive shoilshield-ls. Subgrade shall be prepared and compacted as specified prior to placement of aggregate materials. Subgrade shall then be proof-rolled to identify any unstable area. Any wet or unstable Subgrade should be repaired prior to the placement of aggregate and SoilShield-ls. Apply cover aggregate loosely and evenly over subgrade to the specified depth prior to SoilShield-ls application. When stabilizing native soils without cover aggregate, the top 2 to3" should be loosened evenly to allow full penetration. Eroded areas or rills should be stabilized and compacted prior to surface treatment.

SoilShield-LS shall be applied evenly and uniformly at the rate of one gallon concentrate per 120 to 140 square feet diluted in water at a ratio of between 20:1 and 30:1. For steeper slopes, heavy clay soils, roadways, heavily traveled trails, or critical sites, the application rate should be increased to one gallon concentrate per 80 to 120 square feet diluted to 20:1 to 20:1. The actual dilution rate may be varied based on existing moisture and optimum moisture of the material being stabilized. Solution should be applied slowly enough to ensure full penetration. This may require several light applications instead of one heavy one. Allow enough time between sprays of solution to soak in (percolate) to the full depth of the material to be stabilized. The area should be raked, bladed or tilled between sprays for material to be mixed thoroughly in granite or soil. Full penetration should be verified by hand sampling prior to compaction. After Allowing Material to dry to a compactable consistency (optimum moisture) roll and compact with a 3-1/2 ton steel drum or heavy steel roller to specified compaction. On Dry, Hydrophobic soils, spray water over the surface before application of SoilShield-LS. Water truck, water wagon, or hydromulcher may be used for application.

Soilshield-LS as supplied in drums should be protected from freezing, from outside storage and protected from direct sunlight and temperatures above 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Applications shall not be made during rain or periods when rain may be expected during a 24 hour period. For best curing of emulsion, application should not be made at temperatures lower than 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Treated area shall be protected from traffic until entire thickness has completely dried. This could be 48 to 72 hours or more depending on weather conditions. SoilShield-LS shall not be applied in high wind to avoid property damage and to assure accurate coverage controll.

Manufactures training is recommended for installers involved in the application of SoilShield-LS.
